2018 USARC Ski Event

On 1/29/2018, Nine CPAD families participated in a ski event at Big Bear Mountain. This event was sponsored by United States Adaptive Recreation Center (USARC). Weather was warm and sunny this year and Big Bear was absolutely beautiful! The nine young adults enjoyed two ski lessons - one in the morning and one in the afternoon. They had fun and got more confidence in their skills by the end of the day. Hope next year, we can rent a whole cabin overnight to enjoy each's company even more. (More..)

OC Self-Determination Meeting 

3/17/18 CPAD Orange County Chapter meeting – Mr. Larry Landauer, CEO of RCOC, gave us a talk on “Self Determination”. How is it different than what I have now? What key things do I need to know? How does self-determination work etc. The pilot program of self-determinaton is expected to start shortly once federal fundng is approved. The initial participants will be determined by lottery. After 3 years, this program will be made available to everyone.  (More..)

Congresswoman Judy Chu Annual Turkey Gobble Program

11/7/2017 Congresswoman Judy Chu's Annual Operation Gobble Turkey Donation Program - CPAD board member Jenny Chiu represented CPAD in participating at this meaningful Thanks to event hosted by Congresswoman Judy Chu. Over 110 CPAD members enjoyed the delicious turkey Lunch at our 12/9/2017 Year End Party. (More..

On November 5th and 6th, 2018, Tak Lau Charity Foundation and Alpha Design & Event have joined hands in sponsoring a spectacular Cantonese opera show "Love Charity Nite V". Tak Lau Charity Foundation have donated $20,888.88 from proceeds of these events to CPAD for the building of CPAD’s Activity Center so that member families can have a special event venue to grow and be supported. (More..)

11/18/2017 CPAD Orange County Chapter – CPAD parent, Dr. R. J. Feng gave us a talk on “Emergency Preparedness”.  Dr. Feng showed us the crucial items for survival, such as ax, fire starter, water storage, food storage, compass, tent, and first aid bag.                            IEP Workshop

                  Time: October 28, 2017
              Saturday, 1:30 pm -3:30 pm 
       
                Place: Asian Youth Center

This workshop aims to help parents navigate the IEP process.  It will provide some basic facts about the special education system in California, including eligibility, evaluations/assessments, free and appropriate public education (FAPE), placement, services and tips for IEP meetings.  Parents who attend this workshop will have an opportunity to ask some general questions about IEP, while the lecturer won’t give detailed legal advice with respect to individual cases.  Subsequent workshops will be held to discuss about particular issues identified by parents...(More..)
